Waiting, 2022
26" x 92" x 92", wood-fired stoneware with perlite.
Waiting is a meditation circle which was made after a period of profound grief, reflecting upon the moments of suspended time as one waits for the intimacy of love to return once again. This “in between” period has a way of making time slow down to a point of near stillness. Dancer Irene Hsaio choreographed a work specifically for Waiting (generously funded by the Illinois Arts Council Agency), where she captured somatically the pensive slowness indicative of times such as these; highlights of this performance can be seen here.
